What is ARRHYTHMIC DISORDER?

An arrhythmia is a disorder in which the heart rate is unusually slow or fast, or erratic. Basically, a normal heartbeat is generated by a ‘pacemaker’ in the SA node, at the top of the right atrium. The pacemaker sends electrical impulses out through the atrial muscle tissue. Signals are then relayed by the AV node. Into the thick muscle tissue of ventricle walls.

If this system goes wrong or may have some fault it will result in Arrhythmia.

Range:

Normal range of heartbeat- 60-100 beats/minute.

Types:

  • Sinus Tachycardia: Regular but rapid heartbeat. Range- more than 100 beats/minute

  • Atrial Fibrillation: Rapid, disordered, weak contractions. Range- 500 heartbeats/minute

  • Ventricular Tachycardia: Extremely vertical fast contractions may be caused by heart attack.

Causes:

  • Smoking

  • Drinking too much caffeine

  • Stress

  • Hypertension

  • Alcohol abuse

Precautions:

  • Quit smoking

  • Maintain cholesterol and hypertension

  • Practice yoga and exercise daily.

  • Have a healthy diet, and avoid junk food.
