Dental and oral health are an important part of your overall health and well-being. Poor oral hygiene can lead to cavities and gum disease, as well as heart disease, cancer and diabetes.
With correct care, your teeth and gums will keep healthy throughout your life. The healthier your teeth and gums are, the less risk you have of dental caries and gum disease. Dental and gum care consists of four basic steps
Brushing
Flossing
Cleansing
To have proper food.
Tips for Brushing :
Brush teeth and gums a minimum of double a day. If you can, brush half-hour to one hour after each meal. Brushing removes plaque, a film of bacteria that adheres to teeth. Once bacteria in plaque acquire contact with food, they turn out acids. These acids result in cavities.
Many people still neglect brushing our teeth at night. However brushing before bed eliminates the germs and plaque that accumulate throughout the day.
You will need the same way to brush your teeth. In fact, not brushing your teeth properly is just as bad as not brushing your teeth at all. Take your time and gently move your toothbrush in circular motions to remove plaque. Unremoved plaque will harden, resulting in calculus buildup and early gum disease.
How to brush your teeth in a proper way?
Step 1. Start with the outside of your teeth. Don't rush! Gently brush your upper and lower teeth. Jumping over your teeth will slow you down and help you not miss a single speck.
Step 2: Tilt the brush at a 45° angle. Brush along the gum line to remove adhering plaque and food debris. Gently move the brush back and forth in short strokes across your teeth.
Step 3: Clean the inside of your teeth. You want to miss out on the inner surfaces of your teeth because they are less visible, but these inner surfaces are susceptible to plaque. Use a 45° brush back and forth to clean the inner surface of your teeth.
Step 4: Clean the chewing surfaces of your teeth. Don't forget to brush the top of your molars with a short front and back where food can easily get caught.
Step 5: Brush your tongue. For a fresh breath, brush your tongue to get rid of odor-causing bacteria.
Tips for Flossing :
Use dental floss once a day. Dental floss removes food and plaque from between teeth that the toothbrush cannot reach.
If plaque remains between the teeth, it can harden on the tartar and must be removed by a dentist or hygienist.
What is the correct way to floss?
Step 1: Remove about 18 inch strips of dental floss from the dispenser. Wrap the dental floss around the middle fingers of both hands and leave the 1 inch (2.5 cm) portion open for the dental floss. First the upper teeth, then the lower teeth.
Step 2: Put the dental floss in your mouth and use your index finger to push the dental floss between your teeth. Be careful not to push too hard and damage your gums.
Step 3: Move the dental floss up and down the tooth and around the gingival line. Dental floss needs to form a C-shape around the teeth while doing dental floss.
Step 4: Dental floss between each tooth and behind the molars. If necessary, use clean dental floss and wrap the used dental floss around your finger to remove it.
Tips for Cleansing :
The third part of your daily oral care should be mouthwash, not mouthwash. Rinse your mouth daily with a mouthwash (also known as antibacterial) to kill bacteria that cause plaque, early gum disease, and bad breath.
Fluoride Mouthwash helps prevent cavities. Some mouthwashes contain both antibacterial properties and fluoride.
Rinse mouth with rinse aid for 30-60 seconds.
Mouthwash may be used before and after brushing and flossing.
Tips on Eating Good Food :
Eat a variety of foods and avoid foods high in sugar and starch.
Foods with sugars and starches reside in the mouth for longer duration and produce the majority of acids in the mouth.
The more they stay, the more they damage the teeth.
Most people don't brush their teeth after a snack, so eating sugar-containing foods can cause tooth decay. Starch rich sweets, such as potato chips, stick to your teeth.
Avoid eating snacks that stick to teeth and reside for longer duration in the mouth.
