How to take care of your SKIN in Monsoon?

The monsoon season, without a doubt, makes one feel rejuvenated, vibrant, and cheery after the scorching summer heat, but it is also the season that causes many skin problems. We are prone to acne, rashes, and other skin issues due to the high moisture content in the environment. A summer skincare routine that works during the hot and dry months will do nothing to protect your skin from the dampness of the monsoon.

Common skin problems faced in the monsoon:
  • Body odor: Smelly underarms and body odor are very common in monsoons due to excessive sweating. And for some people using deodorants can cause an allergic rash, so it is recommended to use herbal products, and use of cotton clothes to prevent sweating and body odor. One can also use sweat pads in the underarms which absorb the sweat if necessary.

  • Sweat Rash: Appearance of a red itchy rash. It is mainly seen on the chest, abdomen, pelvis, or back and is accompanied by fever. The blocked sweat glands are usually the main cause, however, the rash disappears when the person goes to a cool, ventilated place. Wearing loose cotton clothes is also recommended for this condition.

  • Fungal Infections: Very common in this season as fungi require hot and humid conditions for their growth. Infections such as ringworm are frequently seen in body folds like in the underarms, under the breasts, between the toes, and in the groin region. Such infections are more common in people suffering from diabetes.

  • Eczema: Humidity and sweat make the skin dry which increases the chance of eczema in the form of a red, itchy rash.

So, how can you keep your skin healthy throughout the rainy season? You have to understand the importance of altering your skincare routine in accordance with the changing seasons.

In this blog, we will tell you about how you can take care of your skin during this monsoon season.

Monsoon Skin Routine:

Wash your face daily:

The skin pores get clogged with dirt and pollutants during monsoon which causes the outbreak of pimples and rashes on the skin. Therefore, one must wash one's face twice to thrice a day to solve these issues. One can use a toner to keep the pores clean if he or she has a dry skin type.

Scrub away that dull skin:

In order to prevent the buildup of dirt in pores during the monsoon, gently exfoliating your face using a scrub is crucial. In order to keep the skin's radiance and eliminate dead cells from its surface, exfoliation of the skin should be done at least once every week.

Moisturize your skin:

Since the humidity increases as the monsoon season approaches, you might think you don't actually need a moisturizer. But because of the dryness brought on by this environment, you need to apply lotion to your skin. Use of a moisturizer is recommended during monsoon especially at night because night is the time when skin tries to repair itself on its own, therefore applying moisturizer helps in reducing wrinkles and maintains the skin glow.

Take care of your lips:

During the monsoon season, your skin is exposed to more humidity, which causes it to lose its capacity to retain moisture and become eczematous. The weather also has an effect on your lips. Use a scrub on your lips to maintain them smooth and get rid of dry, chapped lips.

Use Lightweight Makeup:

In order to allow your skin to breathe, we do suggest replacing your full-coverage foundation with a light BB cream. Additionally, remember to wash off all makeup, no matter how light and basic as going to bed with it is a certain way to get acne and have dull skin.

Maintain a diet:

To keep our skin hydrated and healthy you need to maintain a proper diet

  • Eat green vegetables: Skin care is not concerned only with the use of cosmetics products and exfoliation but for healthy skin one must also monitor his or her diet. Eating junk food or oily food will show its effect on the skin sooner or later, therefore, eating healthy is an amazing way towards healthy skin.

  • Eat fruits: Fruits are rich in antioxidants, which help in maintaining the shine of the skin.

  • Drink lots of water: Water has numerous advantages and it takes care of the skin, health as well as hair. Keeping the body hydrated during monsoons takes care of the skin and keeps the glow.
