The Morning Dincharya as per Ayurveda.

What is the first thing you do when you get up? Yes, probably all of us get fresh, and do exercise but have you ever wondered if there is any manual to follow so that we could have a more pleasant morning which will help you throughout the day?
In Ayurveda, there is a written manual known as 'Dincharya' which means Daily- Routine/regimen respectively.
1. Prataruthana ( getting up in the morning):
"ामे मु हू त उितठे वथो राथमायु षः"
It is said that a healthy person should get up from bed at Brahma Muhurta.
Bramha Muhurta is a time period that occurs before dawn, or around 45 mins before sunrise, which is around 5-6 am. It may differ according to specific weather. It is basically the last three hours of the night which is from 3 am to 6 am and is known as Brahma muhurta.
Benefits of Brahma Muhurta:
Boosts the immune system
Increases energy level
Helps maintain the balance of blood pH
Relieves pain, soreness, and cramps.
Enhances the absorption of minerals and vitamin
2. Danta Dhavana (Cleaning of teeth):
"शररचतां नवय कृतशौचवधततः अक योधखदरकरजककुभादजम् ातभुवा च मवं कषायकट ृ ुततकम ् कनीयसमथौयं गु णं वादशागलमु ् भयेतपवनं दतमांसायबाधयन "
Later, as per your body's condition, you should pass the urine and fasces ( toilet).
Further, you should clean your teeth with any of the following twigs of herbs like
Arka (calotropis procera)
Vata ( Ficus benghalensis)
Khadira ( Acacia catechu)
Karanja (pongamia pinnata)
Kakubha (terminalia arjuna)
To use the twig as a toothbrush, the thickness should be equal to the tip of one’s little finger (angular length).
Danta Dhavana Nishedha (Who should not brush teeth with the herbs):
“नायादजीणवमथु वासकासवरादती तणायपाकनेशरः कणमयी च तत ृ ्”
As per Ayurveda, the following individuals should not do teeth brushing with the herbs:
People suffering from
Indigestion.
Vomiting.
Dyspnea.
Cough.
Fever.
Facial paralysis.
Excessive thirst.
Ulceration of mouth.
Heart disease.
Diseases of the eyes, head, and ears.
Nowadays we need to keep healthy hygiene, so we would suggest that if you’re suffering from the above issues don’t brush your teeth with the herbs and also avoid using toothpaste frequently.
3. Anjana (Collyrium):
सौवीरमजनं नयं हतमणोततो भजेत ।् चुतेजोमयं तय वशेषात लेमतो भयम ् ॥् योजयेसतराेऽमात ावणाथ रसाजनम ्
It is good to apply a special type of collyrium (a type of eye cleanser )
Sauveera Anjana to the eyes: It should be applied daily.
Rasanjana (aqueous extract of Berberis aristata): It should be applied once a week, to drain out Kapha (secretions) from the eyes.
Benefits: It is a prevention against eye diseases or disorder
4. Navana and Gandusha:
"ततो नावनगडूषधू मताबू लभाभवेत ्"
After collyrium application, a healthy person should do:
(1) Navana: (Nasya – Nasal instillation of drops). For this purpose, one can use milk or herbal decoctions.
Benefits: Prevention against any bacterial infection, cold and herbal oils are usually used,
(2) Gandusha: Gargling with warm water, milk, herbal decoction or herbal oil should be done.
Benefits: Reduces discomfort of throat, relieves throat pain, kills bacteria, treats sore throat
3) Dhuma: Inhalation of smoke from herbs and spices should be done, and then betel leaves should be chewed.
Benefits: Inhaling herbs with great therapeutic effect can help in reducing respiratory issues, and protects the lungs from toxins and pollutants.
Betel leaves [विड्याचे पान] have many health benefits but in this case, they threw out the toxins present in the mouth and increase the ascorbic acid value.
5. Abhyanga (Oil massage):
“अयगं आचरेत नयं ् , स जरा मवातहा । िट साद पुिट आयु: सु वन सुवक् दायकृत् ॥ शर: वणपादेषु तं वशेषेण शीलयेत । वयऽयग: कफथक ् ृत संशु अजीणभ:” ॥
Abhyanga means massage. It should be done daily, morning. It delays aging, and relieves tiredness and excess of Vata (aches and pains). It improves vision, nourishes body tissues, prolongs age, induces good sleep, and improves skin tone and complexion. Massage should be specially done on ears, head, and legs. Massage should be avoided when there is an increase of Kapha in the body, soon after Shodhana (Panchakarma procedure), and during indigestion.
6. Vyayama (Exercise):
लाघवं कमसामय दतोऽिन: मेदस: य: । वभतघनगावं यायामात उपजायते ॥ ् वातपतामयो बालो वोऽजीण च तं यजेत ृ । अधशया नषेयत ् बलभ: िनधभोिजभ: ु ॥ शीतकाले वसते च, मदमेव ततो अयथा | तं कृवाऽअनु सु खं देहं मदयेत च समतत: ॥
Exercise brings about lightness, it improves work capacity, increases digestion power, and burns fat. It brings the body into good shape. People with diseases originating from Vata and Pitta, children, elders, and people with indigestion problems should not exercise. Exercise should be done till one’s half-strength. Exercise should be done compulsorily by those who have full strength and who take oily food stuff, From December to May. At the end of the exercise, one should undergo a mild massage (pressing the body parts with mild to moderate pressure.)
7. Udvartana (Powder – massage):
उवतनं कफहरं मेदस: वलायनम । िथरकरणं अगानां वक ् ् सादकरं परम ॥्
Udvartana is using powder for massage. Its benefits are that it helps to calm down aggravated Kapha, and helps to burn fat. Hence it is one of the therapies that many Ayurvedic centers offer for anti-obesity treatment. Udvartana also brings stability to body organs and improves strength and skin complexion.
8. Snana (Bathing):
दपनं वयमाय ृ ुयं नानं ऊजा बलदम । कड ् ु मल म वेद ता त दाह पामिजत ृ ॥्
Bathing improves digestion, acts as an aphrodisiac, prolongs life, and increases enthusiasm and strength. It helps to get rid of dirt, waste products, sweat, tiredness, excessive thirst, burning sensation, and microbes.
उणाबु ना अधकायय परषेको बलावहः तेनैव तूतमागय बलके शचुषाम ्
Pouring water on the body helps in providing strength but using the same water over the head leads to hair fall and loss of strength to the eyes.
नानमदतनेाय कणरोगातसारषु आमानपीनसाजीणभु तवसु च गाहतम ्
Bath is contra-indicated for those suffering from facial paralysis, diseases of the eyes, mouth, and ears, diarrhea, flatulence, rhinitis, indigestion, and who have just taken food.
9. SadVritta (Good/healthy conduct):
जीण हतं मतं चायात न वेगानीरयेत ् बलात ् । न वेगतो अयकाय: यात ् न अिजवा सायं ् आमयम ॥्
One should always eat, only after digestion of previous food, in limited quantities. Na vegan neerayet: This Sanskrit word means that one should not force natural urges like vomiting.
For Example: Urinating, when there is no urge to pass urine. One should immediately attend to natural urges, whenever they come, without being busy in other activities. One should undergo treatment for diseases as soon as possible.
